Islamic Foundation for Ecology & Environmental Sciences
The Islamic Foundation for Ecology and Environmental Sciences (IFEES) is a UK registered charity operating internationally, through programmes designed to increase knowledge and awareness, alleviate poverty, combat climate change and deal with other major environmental issues.
It collaborates with government bodies, local authorities, NGOs, scholarly and academic institutions, to develop an Islamic science of natural resources management, implement sustainable projects, produce training material and conduct training in key locations.
Harfiyah Haleem is IFEES’s representative on the Board of the Muslim Women’s Collective in Tower Hamlets and has co-ordinated the Eco-Champions (Civic Participation) project. She brings to the Collective an environmental motivation based on the Qur’an and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh): Allah (God) who created the heavens and earth gave human beings an awesome ‘trust’ to act in accordance with His guidance and maintain the balance He set up without falling short or exceeding in it.
